I’m so excited! The Last Train To Glen Alum debuts tonight! What is Glen Alum? I’m glad you asked! It’s a small town in Mingo County, West Virginia. It’s also the location of an infamous train robbery that took place in 1914. A group of masked desperados robbed the local train as it was transporting the payroll for a mine.

The Last Train To Glen Alum is an old fashioned radio drama written by an author friend of mine named Eric Douglas and produced by Landon Mitchell for West Virginia Public Broadcasting. I got involved by basically begging Eric to give me a part. Well, that and submitting an audition recording. Once I was chosen, I went to WVPB’s studio in Charleston and recorded my part. By the way, I play Joey Sipple, the town telegraph officer. I was surprised we didn’t all record together. Instead, everyone came on their own time and then Landon dubbed all the lines together in the correct order, adding music and sound effects. So, while I’ve read the script several times, I’ll be hearing the full production for the first time along with everyone else.

The premiere is tonight, September 27 at 8pm on your local WV Public Radio station. Where I live, that would be WVPG. If you aren’t actually in or near West Virginia, simply head on over to wvpublic.org at 8pm tonight and you should be able to hear it there.

Here’s a trailer:

I hope you tune in to hear it! And when you do, please let me know what you think. I’d love to hear from you.
