In week three of, I think, four weeks of sharing short stories, I am sharing something a little different. This is really brief and it’s an entire story made up of a series of questions and answers, one leading to the next. It’s a response to a writing prompt I found online. I really enjoyed the process of seeing where each question and its subsequent answer could lead. I hope you like it.
Please note: the entire story is made up of dialogue, so I am not going to bother with quotation marks.
Why did you dump water on my bed?
Because it was on fire.
Why was it on fire?
Because I dropped a candle on it.
Why did you drop a candle on it?
Because I tripped over your dog as I was sneaking into your room.
Why were you sneaking into my room?
Because I thought it was your sister’s room.
Why were you trying to sneak into my sister’s room?
Because I was going to sneak out with her.
Why did you want to sneak out with her?
Because we wanted to run away.
Why were you going to run away?
Because we were going to elope.
Why were you going to elope?
Because your parents don’t approve of me.
Why don’t my parents approve of you?
Because they think I’m a zombie.
Why do they think you’r a zombie?
Because I’m a zombie.
Why are you a zombie?
Because I didn’t know your sister is a zombie.
